Happenin's at "The Roost"

There seems to always be something going on at "The Roost".  We have had multiple camping trips with friends and family, just learning the land and enjoying the outdoors.  We have been able to see wildlife up close and to notice how many stars there are up in the heavens when there is a new moon and no other lights around.  It is also amazing how bright it can be on a night with a full moon. We have sat by the campfire and listened to hoot owls, coyotes and other wildlife just outside the ring of light from our campfire.  It is certainly a great place to: "Be still and know I am GOD" Psalm 46:10

It's always something....

Picture
Whenever you are bush hogging the railroad track, don't go too fast.  There might be a limb that will just about knock you out cold and also knock your new camo baseball hat off. Then you can't stop the tractor quick enough to keep from running over it because you are still dazed from the whack in the head!

Then ....

Anytime you have so much to do and to keep up, accidents are gonna happen.
One day as we were checking things out on the 4 wheeler, we kept smelling something..... Once we stopped and got off the 4 wheeler we saw what it was.  My back pack had slip down and was burning on the muffler.  I lost my backpack, my cover pants, my binocular case, my Swiss army knife and my hat.  What did not get burnt up.....

The Toilet Paper!

Ladies Weekend: 3-27-2015

We had a great time at this weekend with 5 ladies.  Two of these ladies had never spent the night in a tent.  Considering the temp was suppose to drop to in the 20's that weekend, they were pretty nervous.  We had so much fun.  We learned many outdoor activities to include starting a fire with firesteel and a "bird nest" (not an actual bird home, no worries for the little feathered friends), water filtration vs purification, and how to cook over fire.  We took hikes in the woods and learned what a hoot owl sounds like in the middle of the night!

It did get to 21 degrees that night, but the tent was as warm as a bug in the rug due to proper floor insulation, proper sleeping bags and sleeping clothes and yes the use of a little buddy heat but only used ever so often.

It was a great weekend to relax, talk, learn new things and share with each other.  What a great way to re-energize yourself for Your God, your family and yourself. Can't wait to go again.

There is always planting to be done.....

We are always planting something at "The Roost".  That may include trees, fruit trees, bushes, soybeans, clover, turnips, blueberries and wildflowers.  Glad my husband knows all about this stuff.

The Road....  The House.... And More....

The road, the house, the move to "The Roost" has been some big changes.  You can read more about it under the Story page.
